CCP-SAS Kickoff Workshop

NOTE: The first day of this Workshop is the open community discussion and feedback day, and is being held on the NIST campus. As such all participants for this day must register with NIST in order to gain access. If you wish to attend please register BY January 23, 2014 at the NCNR Visitor Registration Site. In the "additional comments" box please enter: attending the CCP-SAS workshop. The purpose of your visit is "meeting" and your contact is "Paul Butler"

This Friday session will be held at the NCNR on the NIST campus - bldg 235 Room K04B

The remainder of the meeting will be devoted to organizing the activities of the project for the rest of the year and will be held off the NIST campus.

The NIST campus is located in Gaithersburg Maryland 10 miles north of the Wasthington DC beltway. Dulles, Reagan-National and BWI airports all service the greater DC area and with the new inter-county connector almost equidistant from Gaithersburg. The Holiday Inn on highway 355 (North Frederick Avenue) and Montgomery Village Avenue is the Meeting hotel.

Housing

While there is no reserved block of rooms at any hotel, the Holiday Inn will be the location of the Project planning sessions on Saturday and Sunday morning, and will also be the location for the meet and greet on Thursday evening. Project personel are encouraged to consider this hotel for convenience of informal get togethers which is expected to play a large role in the working part of this meeting. Other nearby hotels include the Hilton and TownePlace Suites on Perry Parkway, and the Wyndham on Russel Ave. The Washingtonion center nearby offers a number of hotels within a walkable district of shopping, movies, and restaurants. Keep in mind if not using the Holiday Inn that you may want to have your own car to get to the meeting from the hotel. For those staying in the Holiday Inn there should be plenty of people with cars with whom to hitch a ride.

The easiest way to travel to the hotel from any of the three nearby airports is to go to the airport shared ride counters and book a shuttle. Cost should be on the order of $35/person. For larger groups a taxi will probably be more economical.

To The NIST Center for Neutron Sciences

The NIST CNR website provides information for shuttle or metro access as well as local hotel infomation. When driving, the address is 100 Bureau Drive. From the south take exit 10 off of I270. Turn right off ramp onto E. Diamond Road. Pass under I270, pass the southbound on-ramp to I270 and take next left (at traffic light) onto Bureau Drive. From the North take exit 11 off of I270. Turn right off ramp onto Montgomery Village ave. Pass under railway and through first traffic ligth at Fields Road. Turn left at next traffic light onto E. Diamond Road. Take first right from E. Diamond onto Bureau drive.
